Out near the coast in Jindalee, the estate is still filling in. From the roof of this home you can see sandy blocks waiting for their turn, rows of new Colorbond roofs and the sky opening out toward the ocean.

Shehan Gunasinghe and the team put 24 panels on the light Colorbond: a long double run down one face and a second group across the upper section beside the whirlybird. Together they make up an 11.4kW solar system.

The home is three phase, so the inverter is the three phase version of GoodWe’s all-in-one system, the ESA 5-30kW series, here in its 15kW size. Four battery modules sit beneath it for 33.28kWh of storage. A three phase inverter spreads the load across all three phases of the supply, and the 15kW rating leaves plenty of headroom for more panels later.

The unit stands against the cream brick in the garage between two steel bollards, with its isolators on the wall above and signage beside it. It’s a tall stack, but the footprint is no bigger than a small cupboard.

The same 15kW GoodWe ESA runs a larger system in Mount Pleasant, and just up the coast we’ve installed a 30kW system in Alkimos.
