With New WA Rebates Coming, It Might Be the Smartest Move Yet
If you’ve already got solar panels on your roof, you’re ahead of the game. But if you’re still feeding power back into the grid and buying it back at night, you’re not getting the full benefit of your system.
That’s where a home battery comes in.
And with the WA Government’s new rebate scheme launching by 1 July 2025, there’s never been a better time to upgrade your solar system with battery storage.

What’s the Deal with the New Rebate?
The WA Government will be offering 20,000 battery rebates, available in multiple rounds starting from July. Here’s how it breaks down:
- Synergy customers can claim $500 per kWh, up to a maximum of $5,000
- Horizon Power customers can claim $750 per kWh, up to $7,500
- Batteries must be 5kWh or larger and VPP-ready (which we’ll help you navigate)
- No-interest loans of up to $10,000 will also be available for eligible households
Once the scheme opens, it’s first in, best dressed — so getting a quote and system design sorted early is your best shot at securing the rebate.
Why Add a Battery?
1. Use More of Your Own Power
Without a battery, much of the solar power you generate during the day is sent to the grid — often for just a few cents per kilowatt hour. Then, you buy it back at night at full price. A battery stores your excess solar power so you can use it later, cutting your reliance on the grid and reducing your bills.
2. Protect Against Blackouts
Many modern batteries can provide backup power if the grid goes down. That means fridges stay cold, lights stay on, and your home stays functional even in a power outage.
3. Lock In Long-Term Savings
While a solar system alone already reduces energy costs, a battery takes it further by helping you avoid peak pricing and grid dependency. And with a rebate of up to $7,500 on offer, the payback period becomes even more attractive.
4. Make the Most of the System You Already Have
If your panels are still working well but your feed-in tariff is no longer delivering decent returns, a battery can help you shift from exporting power to storing and using it — which is where the real value is heading.
5. Get Ready for the Future Grid
Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) are coming — and the rebate scheme requires battery systems to be VPP-ready. Adding a compliant battery now ensures you’re ready to take part in future energy-sharing programs, which could bring even more financial and community benefits.
Is Your Existing System Battery-Ready?
In most cases, yes — and we can confirm that with a quick inspection. Whether it’s a retrofit, a replacement, or a full upgrade with a new inverter, we’ll design a solution that works with your setup and qualifies for the rebate.
