9.97kW Solar + 50kWh AlphaESS Battery Installed in Shoalwater

We recently completed a complete solar and battery installation in Shoalwater, delivering a system built to maximise daytime generation, store every spare kilowatt and keep the lights on when the grid goes down.

This home is now equipped with a 9.97kW residential solar system paired with a 5kW AlphaESS inverter and 50kWh of AlphaESS battery storage, including full blackout protection for the property.

The panels were laid out across the home’s tiled roof in clean, well-aligned rows. With close to 10kW of generation capacity, the property produces more than enough power through daylight hours to cover its own consumption and charge the battery, even on overcast days.

Rather than exporting that surplus solar back to the grid at low feed-in rates, the system channels it straight into the AlphaESS battery so the household can draw on its own stored energy through the evening peak, when grid electricity is at its most expensive.

The 50kWh of usable storage is a serious amount of capacity for a Western Australian home. It is enough to ride right through the night on solar, run essentials during an outage, and absorb the high air-conditioning loads that come with WA summers. The blackout protection feature was a key part of this build. If the grid drops out, the system automatically isolates from the network and keeps the household’s circuits running on stored solar energy, so essential loads stay on without the need to flip a switch.

The AlphaESS units were neatly positioned in the garage and finished with protective bollards in front of each. It is a small detail, but it is the kind of thing that protects the investment for the long term, and keeps the installation tidy, safe and compliant.
