Enhancing a Standard Solar System with Large-Capacity Storage

This Dianella property was upgraded with a 50 kWh AC-coupled battery system to work alongside the homeowner’s existing 6.6 kW solar array. The goal was to increase stored energy for night-time use, reduce grid reliance, and provide a more stable supply during outages.

Installed Components

50 kWh AC-coupled battery bank
Multiple cabinet-style battery units positioned along the wall
Impact-rated bollards installed in front of each unit
Rigid conduit connecting all battery cabinets to the control equipment
Integration with the existing 6.6 kW solar system

Installation Layout and Method

The battery cabinets were mounted with even spacing, allowing airflow and ensuring clear access for any future servicing. Conduit was routed neatly across the wall to link the system together in a compliant and organised layout.

Each unit was fitted with a front-mounted safety bollard anchored into the concrete. This protects the battery bank from accidental impact and complies with current installation requirements for high-capacity residential batteries.

Because the system is AC-coupled, it operates independently of the existing inverter, allowing the homeowner to retain their original 6.6 kW solar installation without alteration.

System Benefits for the Household

Substantial overnight supply from the 50 kWh battery bank
Increased self-consumption of the existing solar generation
Reduced grid imports during higher tariff periods
Added stability during outages
Flexibility to expand solar or add future loads

Outcome

The Dianella installation provides a significant storage upgrade that complements the existing rooftop system. With neat cabinet placement, clean conduit runs, and protective bollards, the setup is built for long-term performance and reliability while giving the homeowner far greater control over their energy usage.

A series of curved, parallel lines in a gradient from red to yellow form a partial circular shape on a light grey background, resembling a stylised, incomplete arc—evoking the energy and innovation of Perth Solar and Batteries.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. DMG Solar & Electrical did an amazing job installing my 50 kWh battery and solar panels today. The team was friendly, professional, and very patient, taking the time to explain everything clearly. They even cleaned my garage after the job!

The work was done efficiently, at a great price, and to a very high standard. I’ve already recommended them to a friend and would happily recommend them to anyone looking for quality solar and electrical work. Thank you team!
