The Install

Shehan Gunasinghe and the team started at ground level on this Thornlie job. The Sigenergy SigenStor went in under the patio against the face brick, a sheltered spot that keeps it out of the direct sun. It stands on the concrete with a steel bollard on each side, the isolator on the wall to the left and safety signage above.

Then it was up onto the terracotta tiles. Sixteen Trina Solar Vertex S+ 475W panels were fitted in rows across the main roof faces, positioned well clear of the palms nearby.

The System

The controller is a 5kW SigenStor EC single phase unit, with two battery modules beneath it for 18.08kWh of storage. SigenStor combines the solar inverter, battery and energy management in one stack, and more modules can be added to the same stack later.

On the roof, the 7.6kW solar system is well matched to the battery. On a clear day it produces enough to run the house and fill 18kWh of storage for the evening, without much going to waste.
