This Spearwood home now has a lot of solar on the roof. The 14.72kW array is paired with a 10kW GoodWe ESA Series inverter and 24.96kWh of battery storage. Wesley Wright led the install.

Three things worth noting about this one

1. The array does the heavy lifting. Most of our recent jobs carry more battery than panels. This one flips that around. With 14.72kW of Trina Solar Vertex S+ panels feeding a 24.96kWh battery, a sunny day can run the house, fill the battery and still have generation left over to send to the grid. It suits a household that uses a fair amount of power while the sun is up.

2. The roof made it easy to go big. The light Colorbond roof has long, clear faces, so the panels went on as a long continuous run plus a second group on the adjoining section, with rails kept low and tidy along the sheeting.

3. The battery lives outside, and that’s fine. The GoodWe ESA is IP66 rated, so it’s built to handle an outdoor wall. It’s mounted against the dark brick at the side of the house, with isolators beside it, signage above and a steel bollard at the front corner. Three battery modules sit under the inverter, giving the home 24.96kWh of storage for the evenings.

If you’re in the Cockburn area, it’s worth comparing this with an earlier Spearwood installation, which went the other way with 9.97kW of solar and 50kWh of storage, and a similar job in Bibra Lake.
